The Napoleon WWTP Improvements project undertaken by Kirk Bros. Co., Inc. for the City of Napoleon represents a significant overhaul and enhancement of the wastewater treatment infrastructure. The comprehensive scope includes the construction of a fully functional Dewatering system encompassing various crucial components. Also, the creation of a new headworks facility equipped with screening and grit removal equipment, along with provisions for a sewer cleaning/collection truck unloading pad.
Additionally, the project features the establishment of a primary flow splitting structure, a new 45-foot diameter primary sedimentation tank, and a recirculation pumping building housing four vertical turbine pumps, two sludge pumps, and one scum pump. Upgrades involve the replacement of mechanisms, weirs, and baffles in two existing 60-foot diameter final settling tanks, installation of process and drain piping ranging from 6 to 24 inches, and incorporation of a new 10.5 million gallons per day (mgd) screw pump in the existing screw pumping station. The project also entails various replacements, including bearings in existing screw pumps, installation of submersible stormwater handling pumps, and replacement of sludge pumps. Structural modifications include the removal of covers and conversion of existing anaerobic digesters to aerobic ones, removal of existing sludge belt filter presses, and installation of new volute presses.
Other improvements encompass electrical and communication duct bank relocation, PLC and SCADA upgrades, building and equipment electrical work, installation of a new generator, plumbing, HVAC improvements, and modifications to the sludge dewatering and storage building. Additionally, pavement modifications and replacements are part of the project to ensure a comprehensive upgrade of the wastewater treatment plant in Napoleon, Ohio.
